The Ultrasound and CT of Splenic Candidiasis in Acute Leukemia

Abstract

|
|
The ultrasound and computed tomography of splenic candidial abscess in 2 patients were discussed. They were previously diagnosed as acute myelocytic leukemia. In ultrasound and CT, numerous and small abscesses were demonstrated in the spleen and occasionally in the liver.
Especially the typical "Bull´s-eye" appearance with hypoechoic area with hyperechoic spot could be identified in ultrasound of one case of them. In the serial CT, the response of Amphotericin B treatment to splenic abscesses were well evaluated.
